Job description
NVIDIA is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the technical direction for raw-to-insights medical imaging, focusing on AI and signal-processing systems that work directly with raw acquisition data. This role involves defining the reconstruction and acquisition-AI strategy across various imaging modalities, building platforms, and ensuring interoperability for an ecosystem of researchers and partners. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in computational imaging and a strong background in GPU-accelerated computing. This position offers the opportunity to influence product and research strategies while mentoring senior engineers and researchers.
Requirements
- PhD in biomedical/electrical engineering, computer science, medical physics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of relevant experience building computational imaging or signal-processing systems.
- Expertise in reconstructing medical images and understanding image formation physics.
- Proficiency in at least one imaging modality (MRI, CT, or PET) at the raw-signal level.
- Deep command of GPU-accelerated computing and infrastructure for large-scale deployment.
- A track record of building platforms or frameworks that leverage ecosystems beyond immediate teams.
- Fluency with modern deep-learning methods for inverse problems and a clear perspective on validation and clinical trustworthiness.
- Ability to operate as a cross-organization technical leader.
Responsibilities
- Define the technical and architectural strategy for medical image reconstruction and AI across modalities.
- Design and guide GPU-accelerated, real-time, and distributed reconstruction pipelines.
- Advance AI-based reconstruction, denoising, motion correction, and uncertainty quantification.
- Drive raw-data access, interoperability, and standardization for cross-vendor acquisition formats.
- Partner with the ultrasound raw-to-insights lead to ensure complementary modalities.
- Serve as a company-level technical authority and influence product and research strategy.
- Translate clinical and partner needs into architecture and own decisions for the reconstruction platform.
Benefits
- Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
