Job description

The Senior Product Data Scientist for YouTube Shorts Creation will be part of the YouTube Data Science team, which plays a crucial role in influencing product and engineering leadership. This position focuses on using data science to improve decision-making processes at YouTube, particularly in enhancing user experiences. The team is involved in strategic projects that directly impact the business and product development. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and collaboration with various stakeholders to drive data-driven insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding, or 5 years of work experience plus a Master's degree.
  • Experience with feed-based applications and user funnels is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders across cross-functional projects to identify and clarify business or product questions.
  • Leverage custom data infrastructure or existing data models to design and evaluate models that solve defined problems.
  • Work with engineering and product teams to create new metrics and drive data-driven decision making.
  • Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources to ensure quality and readiness for analysis.
  • Support launch decisions through experimental design and analysis.
