Job description
The Software Engineer Manager for Cloud Observability at Google will lead a team of engineers to optimize code and manage project goals. This role involves providing technical leadership while overseeing the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites. The team focuses on enhancing the Google Cloud Platform by delivering public-facing APIs for cloud monitoring. The manager will bridge internal monitoring systems with public cloud services to improve observability for customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.
- 3 years of experience with data structures or algorithms and software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Responsibilities
- Set and communicate team priorities that align with the broader organization's goals.
- Establish clear expectations with team members and provide regular feedback and coaching.
- Develop the mid-term technical goals and roadmap for the team.
- Design, guide, and vet systems designs while writing product or system development code.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
