The Senior Director of Engineering & Maintenance at Elanco provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for engineering, maintenance, and utility functions at the Elwood manufacturing site. This role is part of the Site Leadership Team and focuses on ensuring that all physical assets and technical processes meet safety and quality standards. The director will manage significant capital investments while promoting a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. The position emphasizes the importance of reliability and operational excellence in supporting Elanco's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in maintenance and/or engineering in a regulated industry.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale capital projects exceeding $10M.
  • Deep expertise in Reliability Excellence (REx) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a multi-year engineering strategy aligned with Elanco 2030.
  • Direct the site’s CAPEX investments and Master Plan.
  • Oversee reliable maintenance and utility operations using SAP-driven predictive programs.
  • Champion a 'Safety First' culture ensuring compliance with GxP, HSE, and global regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing technical team while managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets.

Benefits

  • Employees at Elanco are often offered competitive compensation with annual bonus and equity eligibility, retirement plans (including a U.S. 401(k)), and comprehensive health coverage—medical, dental, vision, company-paid life and disability—and even pet insurance. Time-off and flexibility typically include generous PTO, U.S. mid-year and year-end paid shutdown weeks, parental leave, and flexible/remote work options. Employees also benefit from strong development programs (onboarding, course libraries, mentorship, nine ERGs, and tiered leadership programs) that support both professional growth and community involvement.
