Job description

The Vice President of Software Engineering at Goldman Sachs will focus on developing and maintaining the firm's software solutions to support global business operations. This role involves designing high-quality technology solutions and working through all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and the identification of innovative technologies to enhance financial services. The candidate will also be responsible for ensuring compliance and robust testing across business lines.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and three years of experience in a software engineering role, or a Bachelor's degree in the same fields and five years of experience.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, documentation, deployment, and production support.
  • Proficiency in Java enterprise applications within a Unix environment.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies including Java, HDFS, Scala, Spark, or MapReduce.
  • Experience with relational database management systems such as Sybase or Oracle.
  • Familiarity with micro-services architecture design and development including REST, Java, Spring, or other back-end technologies.
  • Proficiency in database query languages, including SQL or NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, support, and maintain the firm's software solutions.
  • Design and implement high-quality, scalable technology solutions.
  • Assist in requirements gathering, user story refinement, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Work with internal teams to develop solution designs.
  • Identify new external technologies to transform financial businesses and internal platforms.
  • Work in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust testing suites for scalable solutions.
  • Handle large data platforms for compliance data.
