Job description

The Amazon Managed Service for Apache Flink (MSF) team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to enhance the Apache Flink framework and improve the stream processing engine. This role focuses on building distributed stream processing engines and contributing to open source projects. The team values operational excellence and aims to simplify real-time data processing for customers. Candidates should be enthusiastic about data streaming and possess strong problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Make improvements to the stream processing engine, Apache Flink.
  • Contribute changes to improve the engine back to open source.
  • Enhance the efficiency and availability of the engine.
  • Write quality, reusable code for highly scalable and reliable cloud-based services.
  • Collaborate closely with product and development management to architect the service.
  • Champion operational excellence by insisting on the highest standards.
  • Continuously improve service reliability and availability through code.
