As a Test Engineer at Rivian, you will be integral to the hardware design and development of automated test stations for power electronic equipment. You will work closely with automation engineers to enhance end-of-line and validation testing processes. The role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems and the ability to mentor junior engineers. Your contributions will help ensure the quality and reliability of Rivian's innovative electric vehicles.
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in electrical/electronic systems design, including designing circuit board assembly functional test equipment
- 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering across power electronics or high-voltage systems
- Deep expertise in crafting schematics using design software such as Altium or AutoCAD Electrical
- Proven experience in diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems independently
- Knowledge of modular test instruments and communication/bus protocols such as RS232 and CAN
Responsibilities
- Architect and lead the design of complex functional test equipment for PCBAs and high-voltage power electronics systems
- Define and enforce test equipment design standards and best practices across the team
- Author and review electrical wiring schematics and serve as a technical reviewer on design documentation
- Partner with hardware and software engineering teams to align test system architecture with product requirements
- Lead design reviews, requirement reviews, and hazard analyses as a contributor and technical reviewer
- Develop and approve test procedures, defining setup requirements and acceptance criteria
- Drive data analysis methodologies and set reporting standards for the team
- Serve as the team's subject matter expert on electronic test instrumentation
- Lead technical root cause analysis on complex issues and establish corrective actions
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and career coaching
