Job description

The Staff Software Engineer for Data Center Orchestration at Google will be responsible for designing and developing large-scale software solutions that manage the physical processes in data centers. This role involves leading a distributed team and collaborating with external stakeholders to optimize deployment processes. The team focuses on building a new architecture to handle the increasing complexity of cloud and machine learning customer demands. Engineers in this role will work on critical projects that influence Google's infrastructure and AI capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin, or Go.
  • 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and enhance large-scale software solutions using the internal workflow engine.
  • Lead, coach, and invest in a distributed team of engineers, mentoring them on technical and non-technical skills.
  • Define the strategic goal for the team and establish a clear execution roadmap.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables to support infrastructure growth.
