The Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Audio Platform in XR at Google will focus on developing immersive audio experiences that integrate physical and digital worlds. This role involves managing the technical roadmap for XR audio systems and ensuring high audio quality across various devices. The engineer will work closely with hardware teams and external vendors to optimize audio performance. The position requires a blend of software development expertise and a deep understanding of audio systems and digital signal processing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 8 years of experience in audio software systems, digital signal processing (DSP), acoustics, or consumer electronics audio architecture.
- 4 years of experience in audio software systems, digital signal processing (DSP), acoustics, or consumer electronics audio architecture.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive the long-term technical roadmap and strategy for XR audio systems.
- Take ultimate accountability for overall audio quality across all XR glasses form factors.
- Establish standardized quality metrics and audio tuning practices.
- Partner with physical hardware teams to evaluate and select micro-acoustic transducers.
- Evaluate, select, and manage key component and IP vendors.
- Architect, design, and vet robust, low-latency, and power-efficient system software.
