As a Senior Software Engineer II at Confluent, you will lead the design and delivery of critical backend systems for the Stream Governance products that support our data streaming platform. This role involves collaborating with a high-performing engineering team to create cloud-native, multi-tenant services that ensure data quality and integrity. You will be responsible for making architecture decisions and mentoring engineers while driving projects from conception to production. The position emphasizes innovation and technical leadership within a dynamic environment.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience building and scaling production backend systems.
• Strong proficiency in a major backend programming language such as Java, Go, C/C++, or Python.
• Experience with distributed systems and understanding of trade-offs related to consistency, fault tolerance, and performance.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Develop and architect the cloud-native Stream Governance platform, ensuring it is highly available and scalable.
• Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of complex backend services in a microservices-based environment.
• Drive projects from requirements gathering and design through implementation and production rollout.
