The Systems Engineer role at eero focuses on managing the infrastructure and security of global manufacturing and RMA operations. This hybrid position combines infrastructure engineering and security practices, emphasizing the inseparability of these disciplines in a modern factory environment. The engineer will oversee a fleet of over 300 servers, ensuring their configuration, maintenance, and security compliance. Additionally, this role involves operationalizing security standards and collaborating closely with the eero Security team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
- US government security clearance of top secret or above, or experience in a professional field or military
- 5+ years of systems engineering experience
- Experience with Linux systems administration
- Experience with TCP/IP networking fundamentals and application of IP protocols such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, and SNMP
- Experience managing large server fleets
- Experience in vulnerability testing and auditing
- Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams, including operations
- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Knowledge of AWS Infrastructure
- Experience in one or more of the following: application security frameworks, security code reviews, incident response, security infrastructure, penetration testing, mobile security, cloud security, AI security, identity and access controls
- Experience in automation or monitoring frameworks, deployment or development
- Network or Security certification, or AWS certification
Responsibilities
- Own the configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of eero's factory and RMA server fleet.
- Act as the connective tissue between eero's factory floor and eero's cloud infrastructure in AWS.
- Ensure all servers are current on OS updates, software patches, and security baselines.
- Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions to keep factory lines operational and observable.
- Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues in collaboration with on-site factory teams.
- Identify manual processes and drive toward automated, repeatable solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend hardware investments to improve infrastructure security posture.
- Serve as DRI for information security posture across manufacturing, hardware, and supply chain.
- Define and build eero's factory security reporting framework.
- Own remediation tracking for factory-layer security findings across the server fleet.
- Represent factory security posture in eero Security team reviews.
- Develop data-driven recommendations for security tooling and infrastructure investments.
- Serve as initial responder for security events affecting factory infrastructure.
- Support security audits and compliance assessments with evidence and documentation.
- Extend posture coverage to third-party partner environments as the program matures.
