Job description

This role at Apple focuses on designing and developing the next generation of Siri, emphasizing low latency and high reliability. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and machine learning specialists to enhance Siri's capabilities. The candidate will also work on building debugging tools and evaluating the performance of new implementations. This is a dynamic environment where innovation and technical expertise are paramount.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer and Information Technology, Computer Science and Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in architecting and designing software systems capable of serving high-volume requests with low latency and high reliability.
  • 2 years of experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) or Natural Language Understanding (NLU) engines into production software pipelines.
  • 2 years of experience profiling software runtime performance to measure end-to-end latency and identify bottlenecks.
  • 2 years of experience designing Service Provider Interfaces (SPIs) or Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for reusable internal libraries.
  • 2 years of experience designing evaluation frameworks to measure machine learning model accuracy and software quality.
  • 2 years of experience conducting technical code reviews to enforce design patterns and code quality standards.
  • 2 years of experience building and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Development infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in designing the architecture for the next generation of Siri.
  • Work with machine learning teams on the input/output format for Large Language Models used for Siri.
  • Perform experiments with prototype systems to measure latency and guide architecture discussions.
  • Design and build debugging tools and evaluation systems for the next generation of Siri.
  • Conduct daily software reviews and provide critical feedback to peers.
  • Design and create Service Provider Interfaces (SPIs) for internal libraries.
  • Measure end-to-end run time performance to improve Apple's proprietary technology.
  • Guide other developers with technical solutions to overcome issues during development.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
