Job description

The Apple Services Engineering team is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to innovate and design AI/ML solutions that enhance Apple products. This role focuses on building secure, private, and scalable systems while collaborating with diverse teams across the company. The engineer will work on unique problems that impact a wide range of Apple services. A strong emphasis is placed on improving engineering processes and maintaining high-quality standards.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master's degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 - 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on AI/ML engineering.
  • Expert proficiency in Python and/or Java/Scala.
  • Solid understanding of traditional machine learning algorithms and cutting-edge generative AI technologies.
  • Proven experience with large-scale distributed data processing technologies such as Ray or Spark.
  • Experience developing and maintaining large-scale ML infrastructure is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills for requirement clarifications and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop state-of-the-art AI/ML solutions and tools.
  • Design secure, private, and highly performant systems.
  • Collaborate with broader teams across Apple and participate in design discussions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in design reviews and rigorous code reviews.
  • Ensure AI/ML systems are maintainable and resilient.
