Job description

The SDE II role in Customer360 at Amazon focuses on building infrastructure that processes customer signals and enables AI-powered personalized experiences. The team works at the intersection of large-scale data systems and AI, aiming to enhance customer understanding across various Amazon platforms. The position requires ownership of technical solutions and the ability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces. The engineer will collaborate with senior engineers and product leaders to create robust systems that serve millions of customers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive technical solutions end-to-end across ambiguous problem spaces
  • Lead the design and implementation of systems that serve hundreds of millions of customers
  • Make architectural decisions that balance scale, latency, correctness, and privacy
  • Partner closely with senior engineers, applied scientists, and product leaders
  • Raise the bar through code reviews, design reviews, and mentorship of junior engineers
  • Identify gaps, propose solutions, and drive them to completion
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap and shape how Amazon builds its understanding of customers
