Job description

As a Lead Software Engineer at Elanco, you will be part of the Finance Product Team, focusing on optimizing and automating financial reporting and processes. This role requires a blend of software engineering skills, including experience with SaaS and cloud-native applications. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance engineering practices and promote innovation within the team. Your contributions will help unlock decision-ready data and improve efficiency across finance operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
  • Experience with modern application architecture methodologies.
  • Proficiency in cloud-native design patterns and software deployment capabilities.
  • Experience scaling API ecosystems and working with modern web technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support full-stack, scalable digital products for Finance.
  • Oversee engineering efforts on key Finance initiatives and establish the product backlog.
  • Guide continuous improvement by collaborating with the Platform Engineering team.
  • Coach and upskill engineers within the product team.
  • Promote innovation by using modern product approaches and engaging with partners.

Benefits

  • Employees at Elanco are often offered competitive compensation with annual bonus and equity eligibility, retirement plans (including a U.S. 401(k)), and comprehensive health coverage—medical, dental, vision, company-paid life and disability—and even pet insurance. Time-off and flexibility typically include generous PTO, U.S. mid-year and year-end paid shutdown weeks, parental leave, and flexible/remote work options. Employees also benefit from strong development programs (onboarding, course libraries, mentorship, nine ERGs, and tiered leadership programs) that support both professional growth and community involvement.
