The Amazon Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is seeking a Research Engineer with a focus on hardware design for cryogenic environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in 3D CAD, thermal and structural FEA, and mechanical engineering principles. This role involves driving designs through full product development cycles and working within a cross-functional team to develop innovative solutions for quantum processor systems. The CQC team is dedicated to creating fault-tolerant quantum computers and values diverse experiences and inclusive culture.

• Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent.
• 6+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years with a Master's degree, or 2+ years with a PhD.
• Experience with cryogenic mechanical design and product development lifecycle.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturing.
• Expertise with Finite Element Analysis (Thermal, Mechanical, EM) and 3D CAD (SolidWorks).
• Experience with quantum hardware development and quantum processor packaging.
• Knowledge of RF/Microwave principles.
• Experience with PCB design and manufacturing.

• Collaborate across teams to develop high density novel packaging solutions for quantum processor units.
• Design cryogenic mechanical systems for signal delivery and conditioning sub-assemblies.
• Conduct simulation-driven designs to mitigate EMI within the qubit environment.
• Own the end-to-end product development process, including requirements, design reports, and testing documentation.
• Participate in design and test reviews and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
• Refine and define standards and processes for operational excellence.
• Work in a high-paced environment to innovate quickly.
