Job description
The Quantum Data Center Systems Architect role at IBM Research focuses on leading the development of efficient architectures for complex quantum datacenters. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with high-reliability critical infrastructure including chilled water plants and redundant power systems.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with engineering, vendor, and construction teams to build and commission complex systems.
- Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, thermal sciences, fluid mechanics, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Professional Engineer license or comparable professional certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead the co-development of safe and efficient architectures for quantum datacenters.
- Own the physical realization of datacenter systems including floor space and equipment layout.
- Navigate complex trade spaces in co-design to drive decisions across datacenter infrastructure.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams throughout the design, build, and operating phases.
- Ensure compliance with unique mechanical and environmental constraints for sensitive computational equipment.
