Job description

The Defect Metrology Engineer at Intel's Logic Technology Development (LTD) will play a crucial role in advancing semiconductor manufacturing processes. This position focuses on identifying defects that impact yield and performance in advanced silicon technologies. The engineer will utilize cutting-edge metrology tools to characterize processes and create defect reduction roadmaps. Collaboration with various teams is essential to drive technology from research to high-volume manufacturing while maintaining quality standards.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or PhD with 1+ years of experience in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in materials characterization, fabrication, synthesis, metrology, or statistical analysis.
  • Understanding of semiconductor processing fundamentals and device physics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide navigation and leadership to meet Intel's yield objectives using advanced metrology tools.
  • Organize and present defect summaries to engineering teams.
  • Partner with integration, yield, and failure analysis labs to identify root causes of defects.
  • Institute ramp to manufacturing volumes to ensure technology meets requirements.
  • Hold the team accountable for quality through established metrics.
  • Collaborate with the overall TD Defect Metrology group to drive improvements.
  • Build strong relationships with other process and design teams based on trust and respect.
