Job description

The Software Development Engineer will join the Network Fabric Engineering team at AWS, focusing on building software services to deploy and scale Amazon networks across global datacenters. This role requires collaboration with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure high standards of safety and security while optimizing performance and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and network engineering, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment. The team is dedicated to providing unconstrained connectivity to AWS customers and enhancing the functionality of data centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 2+ years of work with networking fundamentals or Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, DNS, HTTP/S
  • Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment
  • 2+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols in a large enterprise environment
  • Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Build software services to deploy and scale Amazon networks across multiple global datacenters
  • Deliver high quality, extensible design and code
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers
  • Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure
  • Identify and implement optimizations for performance, scalability, and efficiency
  • Work in a 24x7 team on call rotation for critical events
