The Power & Hardware Design Engineer will serve as a technical authority for power systems and hardware engineering within Amazon's global fulfillment center network. This role focuses on standardizing and innovating power distribution and hardware solutions for material handling operations, emphasizing safety and operational excellence. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to deliver robust solutions while ensuring compliance with engineering standards. The position is part of the One Material Handling Systems (OneMHS) team, which is dedicated to transforming Amazon's material handling capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience in power systems design, electrical engineering, and/or hardware development.
- Proven expertise in 3-phase power system design and power distribution for industrial or commercial environments.
- Proficiency in performing arc flash calculations and hazard analysis per IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E.
- Experience in hardware design and validation of components, subsystems, and systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, engineer, and optimize 3-phase power systems and power distribution for material handling applications.
- Perform detailed electrical load calculations and arc flash studies to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Analyze utilities data to identify trends and optimize power consumption across fulfillment centers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support power system design and hardware development.
- Execute power and hardware projects through all phases from initiation through commissioning.
