Job description

The System Development Engineer role at AWS focuses on designing software tools and automating processes to enhance operational efficiency within the Data Center Availability team. This team is dedicated to maintaining the highest quality and lowest cost in physical security and capacity for AWS data centers globally. You will collaborate with a diverse group of engineers and specialists to deliver innovative solutions while fostering an inclusive culture. The position emphasizes mentorship and the implementation of best practices in coding and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience in building scripts, tooling, and automation for large-scale computing environments
  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems using design patterns, reliability, and scaling
  • Experience building services using AWS products

Responsibilities

  • Design software tools using advanced automation methods such as Agentic AI
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand opportunities to automate manual work and streamline processes
  • Develop and maintain software pipelines using best practices for smooth production code release
  • Suggest and implement best practices for coding, design, and operational excellence
  • Mentor engineers and help develop their skills
