Job description
The AWS Hardware Engineering team is seeking a Firmware Engineer to design and develop firmware for non-volatile memory devices, particularly NAND-based SSDs. This role involves collaboration with a diverse team of engineers and external partners to innovate and optimize SSD reliability and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded firmware development and SSD architecture. This position offers the opportunity to impact the future of cloud computing technology and contribute to the success of AWS.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and operations.
- Deep understanding of SSD hardware architecture and concepts such as wear-leveling and garbage collection.
- High-level understanding of NAND technology and associated block interface protocols.
Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and build SSD products focusing on NAND and SoC integration.
- Deliver SSD firmware design and code while collaborating with a diverse team of engineers.
- Own innovation on architecture and design for SSD firmware.
- Work with external vendors and partner teams to collaborate on firmware development.
- Drive product integration by working closely with Hardware, Software, Firmware, and validation teams.
- Participate in Sprint and operational standups to report progress and updates.
