Job description

The Stability Quality Engineer will focus on ensuring the reliability and performance of Apple's data center systems at scale. This role involves planning, developing, and executing system and rack-level stability and stress tests, with a strong emphasis on hardware-centric software risks. The engineer will work closely with hardware and software engineering teams to identify and mitigate system-level risks. This position is critical in influencing product readiness decisions and defining the quality standards for Apple's data center infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware/software test engineering with a focus on system validation or data center environments
  • Hands-on experience with modern CPU architecture and microarchitecture concepts
  • Proficiency with Unix-based operating systems and scripting automation using languages such as Python, Ruby, Swift, or JavaScript
  • Experience developing or executing test automation frameworks and methodologies at scale
  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, debug, and troubleshooting in data center or server environments
  • Experience with data visualization tools and AI-powered tools for test development and data analysis

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute hardware-centric software tests to identify low-level issues in CPUs, components, and subsystems.
  • Plan and develop system and rack-level stability and stress tests.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineering partners to conduct deep technical investigations.
  • Identify and mitigate system-level risks in large-scale deployment environments.
  • Influence design decisions and contribute to product readiness assessments.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
