Job description

This role is part of the global controls team within AWS Infrastructure Services, focusing on the management and operation of building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) in data centers. The team consists of diverse experts including engineers and supply chain specialists, working collaboratively to ensure safety, security, and efficiency. The position involves troubleshooting, project management, and the development of new processes and standards in the controls space. The role emphasizes innovation and the application of Amazon leadership principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of project management experience in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
  • Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure
  • Knowledge of critical data center equipment and engineering documentation
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA
  • Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems

Responsibilities

  • Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to operations during the life cycle of the data center.
  • Review results and action items from quarterly maintenance for BMS and EPMS and take actions to resolve them.
  • Develop BMS and EPMS project scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and levels of effort for projects requested by customers and stakeholders.
  • Manage the scope, schedule, finance, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects in AWS data centers.
  • Assist in procurement activities including requests for quotations, responding to requests for information, and reviewing vendor proposals.
  • Participate in the AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate BMS and EPMS technical support to in-service data centers.
  • Attend project-related meetings, coordinate with project leaders, and regularly report status to Controls and stakeholder management.
  • Support Controls projects related to commissioning activities in the data centers.
  • Review, implement, troubleshoot, and iterate on the controls sequence of operation and provide necessary feedback to the design team.
  • Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate challenging situations.
  • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
  • Frequently visit assigned in-operation data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, and supervise vendor work.
