Job description

The role is for an entry-level engineer in Apple's Custom Timing CAD team, focusing on transistor-level timing verification and formal verification. The team is responsible for developing flows, tools, and methodologies essential for verifying custom silicon. The engineer will work closely with analog and digital designers to set up flows and debug issues. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the quality and schedule of Apple's advanced chips.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong programming or scripting experience in Perl, Python, TCL, or a similar language.
  • Solid understanding of digital or custom IC design and static timing analysis through coursework or internship experience.
  • Hands-on experience with transistor-level timing and formal verification tools such as NanoTime, ESP, PrimeTime, or HSPICE.
  • In-depth knowledge of dynamic logic, memory arrays, or mixed-signal circuit techniques.
  • Experience with SPICE netlists, device models, and parasitic extraction formats such as DSPF or SPF.
  • Experience with formal verification methodologies and SystemVerilog RTL.
  • Track record of driving cross-functional collaboration with design, layout, and EDA vendor teams.
  • Experience developing or contributing to organization-wide CAD methodology documentation and best practices.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven CAD workflows and interest in applying GenAI techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Support and develop flows for transistor-level timing verification and formal verification.
  • Partner closely with analog and digital designers across multiple programs and technology nodes.
  • Help set up flows, debug issues, and achieve clean sign-off.
  • Shape the quality and schedule of Apple's most advanced chips.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to resolve tool and methodology issues.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
