This role is part of the Apple Services Localization Engineering team, which focuses on leveraging Machine Learning and Machine Translation to enhance global product reach. The team is responsible for building secure, end-to-end solutions that support various Apple services, including Apple Music and the App Store. Engineers in this role will work on applied modeling and software engineering to develop core language and machine translation models. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of Localization and large-scale software development.

• BS/MS/PhD in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or Physics.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in software engineering.
• Proficient programming skills in Python with experience writing and maintaining production-quality code.
• Hands-on experience with deep learning toolkits such as JAX, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Proven track record of training or deploying large models in production.
• Deep understanding of Deep Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
• Experience with machine translation and translation-quality evaluation methods.
• Familiarity with MLOps and model-deployment infrastructure.

• Build and develop core language and machine translation models for Localization.
• Develop production systems to deploy models efficiently and at scale.
• Optimize model serving and inference for low-latency and high-throughput deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into Apple services.
• Work on various approaches including deep learning, model compression, and transfer learning.
