·FY 2025Job description
The Principal Engineer will join the CSP Engagements team at NVIDIA, acting as the technical focal point for performance optimization with key CSP and hyperscale customers. This role involves collaborating with engineering teams to ensure performance targets are met on NVIDIA platforms. The engineer will drive performance characterization, gather feedback, and validate performance metrics in customer-representative configurations. The position requires a strong focus on improving documentation, configuration guidance, and tooling based on cross-CSP insights.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in systems performance engineering, ideally in GPU/HPC/ML infrastructure.
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in GPU workload profiling tools such as nsight systems, nsight compute, or DCGM metrics.
- Understanding of distributed training performance dynamics including computation/communication overlap and memory bandwidth utilization.
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills, particularly in Python and pandas.
Responsibilities
- Drive performance characterization work streams with engineering teams of key CSP/hyperscale customers.
- Gather and synthesize CSP performance feedback to identify gaps between expected and actual throughput.
- Ensure key open-source performance and stress tools are updated and validated for the latest NVIDIA systems.
- Conduct cross-CSP performance comparison and pattern analysis to identify configuration differences.
- Define test strategies and tooling requirements for performance validation for both internal certification and customer acceptance.
Benefits
- Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
