Job description
Apple's Camera Algorithm team is seeking engineers and researchers to develop advanced image capture, processing, and rendering algorithms for Apple products. The team focuses on improving image and video quality while leveraging Apple silicon technologies. As part of this interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with various groups to deliver innovative consumer imaging solutions. The role emphasizes creativity and independence in solving engineering challenges related to camera algorithms.
Requirements
- MS degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Track record of developing image processing algorithms such as auto white balance and tone mapping.
- Validated coding skills in Python or MATLAB.
- Familiarity with a digital camera image processing pipeline and the Image Signal Processor (ISP).
- Understanding of image quality metrics and subjective evaluations.
- Proven knowledge of HDR encoding standards.
- Prior experience with professional video content postproduction and color grading workflows.
- Curiosity about vision science and/or color science.
- Programming skills in C/C++.
- Exposure to machine learning algorithms.
- Passion for photography and videography.
Responsibilities
- Develop capture side tone mapping algorithms to enhance video quality.
- Drive algorithm development from initial concept through to field testing and validation.
- Collaborate with silicon design, camera hardware, and software teams.
- Innovate and iterate on solutions to improve camera performance.
- Ensure algorithms meet high standards of image and video quality.
