The Manufacturing Engineer role at Google focuses on driving progress and solving problems within the Edge Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineering team. The engineer will leverage their expertise to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure product readiness. The role requires collaboration with various teams to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency in production.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience working in manufacturing.
- Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred.
- 5 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer in an industrial environment, particularly in data centers or automotive production.
- Experience with data center cooling and lean manufacturing.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time as needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive DFx feasibility reviews and generate DFM feasibility reports during the concept readiness phase.
- Validate mass production readiness through run-at-rate validation reports and line balancing charts.
- Execute vendor capability assessments and factory readiness gap analyses to ensure supply chain maturity.
- Enforce strict process quality by reviewing process capability reports, control plans, and gage R&R reports during the pilot phase.
- Advocate for risk management by leading PFMEAs and conducting pareto analysis and root cause analysis for manufacturing issues.
- Optimize factory logistics by developing process flow diagrams and material presentation plans.
