Job description

AMD is seeking a Systems Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing. The role focuses on developing and debugging bare-metal GPU firmware for various AMD ASICs throughout different phases. The engineer will work on defining processes for technical platforms and system specifications while ensuring hardware and software compatibility. This position emphasizes collaboration and innovation within a diverse team to influence future product designs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • One year of experience as a system or firmware engineer or in a related engineering role.
  • Experience in performing software and hardware verification.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, or C++.
  • Knowledge of logic and circuit design.
  • Familiarity with CPU, GPU, or SoC architecture.
  • Experience in low-level device drivers and embedded driver development.
  • Understanding of Linux or Windows internals.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Develop and debug bare-metal GPU firmware for multiple AMD ASICs across pre-silicon, post-silicon, and production phases.
  • Design a complete and complex framework, system, or product.
  • Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and software compatibility.
  • Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses.
  • Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework used across multiple products or systems.
  • Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.
  • Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use.
