Job description
The Mechanical Engineer role at Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) focuses on delivering core infrastructure for cloud services like Azure and Office 365. The team is responsible for managing a global portfolio of datacenters, emphasizing environmental sustainability and operational efficiency. This position requires collaboration with industry professionals to support 24/7 datacenter operations and mechanical systems. The engineer will also act as a technical authority and contribute to the design and maintenance of mechanical infrastructures.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 1+ years of related technical engineering experience, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2+ years of related technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Candidates must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Verification of U.S. citizenship is required due to legal restrictions.
Responsibilities
- Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of datacenter activities.
- Understand the design and functionality of the datacenter.
- Collaborate with the Operations and Design team to develop mechanical designs for new datacenter projects.
- Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures for high-capacity cooling systems.
- Assist with supplier selection and oversee mechanical supplier execution.
- Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success.
