Job description
This role at Apple involves designing precision assembly and measurement processes for various products. Requirements
- Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience using JMP to analyze manufacturing process performance.
- Ability to troubleshoot process and product failures to determine corrective actions.
- Proficiency in using presentation programs like Keynote to summarize complex technical issues.
- Experience in compiling process failure mode and effect analysis trackers.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles for automated equipment design.
- Understanding of optics principles related to CCD cameras and laser positioning.
- Experience with robotics, pneumatics, servo motors, and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated and semi-automated solutions for Apple products.
- Provide direction and mentorship to third-party machine suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Act as the technical leader on owned projects and serve as a resource to other engineering groups.
- Organize cross-functional reviews of machine requirements and design.
- Create RFQ/RFPs that document design requirements and delivery schedules.
- Engage machine suppliers for design reviews and proposals.
- Travel to machine suppliers and contract manufacturers for equipment qualification and testing.
- Drive machine qualification, including process capability and Gage Repeatability/Reproducibility.
- Conduct failure analysis and resolve machine issues with suppliers.
- Run experiments to assess machine capability and communicate findings to multifunctional teams.
