Job description

The Business Data Scientist role at Google focuses on leveraging data to shape commercial strategies within the YouTube+ team. This position is part of the Global Business Organization (GBO) Product Finance team, where you will analyze complex datasets to drive high-stakes business decisions. You will work closely with product, engineering, finance, and economics leaders to communicate insights and recommendations effectively. The role emphasizes methodological innovation and strategic problem-solving to enhance user experiences and influence global priorities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Engineering, Sciences, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or a relevant PhD degree.
  • 4 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or a relevant PhD degree is preferred.
  • Experience with code management concepts (Google3, Cider, Blaze) and to evolve at pace with AI.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a portfolio of data-driven analysis projects within a technical team to guide and support decision making for YouTube.
  • Build relationships with the YouTube team and present the Finance Point of View in various decision-making forums.
  • Design infrastructure and tooling to assess the value customers derive from YouTube products and identify opportunities to accelerate budgets.
  • Build tooling to decompose growth drivers and surface areas of opportunity across all regions and channels.
  • Drive the development of next-generation opportunity sizing methods and tooling, collaborating with partner teams to deliver consistent, high-quality work.
