·FY 2025Job description
The Systems Development Engineer will focus on building automation, tooling, and operational infrastructure to ensure the reliability and efficiency of a large-scale disaster recovery service. This role involves treating operations as a software problem, eliminating manual toil, and enhancing deployment and monitoring systems. The team, AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS), aims to minimize downtime and data loss for organizations by providing fast and reliable recovery solutions. The position requires robust automation and tooling across diverse operating systems and hardware architectures.
Requirements
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Experience with Linux/Unix.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline build processes.
- Experience with distributed systems at scale.
Responsibilities
- Design and build software that automates infrastructure provisioning, deployments, and recurring operational workflows.
- Build and improve pipelines, deployment guardrails, and rollback mechanisms for safe changes across all regions and platform variants.
- Develop and maintain tooling that works reliably across a wide range of operating systems and architectures.
- Implement monitoring, alarming, and self-healing systems to detect and remediate issues proactively.
- Tune and scale systems for continuous replication, capacity management, and recovery orchestration.
- Drive down ticket and incident volume through durable, programmatic fixes and lead root-cause analysis.
- Partner with security teams to harden the service and ensure consistent deployment of fixes across the fleet.
- Build automation and tooling that serves multiple teams and enhances operational standards across DRS.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
