Job description
The Principal Software Engineering Manager will lead a major Frontier Security Engineering sub-organization at Microsoft, focusing on delivering advanced security capabilities to customers. This role involves owning the strategy, execution, and outcomes for a multi-team organization while fostering a high-trust and inclusive culture. The manager will partner with executive leaders and drive the operating model's scale to enhance customer engagement. The position is integral to Microsoft's mission of empowering users and organizations through innovative security solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience.
- 6+ years managing managers or leaders.
- Track record leading large engineering organizations that ship in production security, cloud, or AI domains.
- Demonstrated executive stakeholder management and customer-facing engineering leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead a major Frontier Security Engineering sub-organization, owning delivery, talent, and technical strategy at scale.
- Set the bar for how Microsoft's most advanced security capabilities reach customers and flow back into the product.
- Own the strategy, execution, and outcomes for a multi-team FSE organization spanning several frontier security tracks.
- Build and lead a team of engineering managers and principal engineers, owning hiring, leveling, and succession.
- Be accountable for engagement quality end-to-end and for the engineering signal flowing back into product ROBs.
- Partner at the executive level with MSEC product leaders and customer CISOs.
- Drive the operating model's scale by moving toward a repeatable, generalized approach across the organization.
