Job description

The Applied AI II Engineer will join the Azure Engineering Operations team, focusing on building scalable, intelligent AI-powered solutions to enhance the Azure customer support experience. This role involves translating product specifications into AI service architectures and developing workflows that improve customer issue resolution. The engineer will work with LLM orchestration and multi-agent coordination to create production-ready AI services. The position emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a growth mindset within a diverse team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in low-code application development, engineering product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience using low-code/no-code platforms such as Dataverse or Power Applications.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience managing and configuring artificial intelligence solutions like chatbots.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience with programming or coding.
  • Familiarity with Azure services including Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Azure Functions, and Cosmos DB.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production observability.
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Translate product specifications into AI service architectures by decomposing business intent into agent workflows and data source integrations.
  • Build agentic AI workflows using Azure AI Foundry Agent Service and Microsoft Agent Framework.
  • Develop and iterate on LLM-based solutions including prompt engineering and model selection.
  • Build evaluation systems to validate agent correctness and safety before production deployment.
  • Write production-quality C# and Python code with test-driven development.
  • Deploy services using CI/CD pipelines and ensure full production observability.
  • Implement secure service patterns including RBAC and secrets management.
  • Integrate agents with Azure data sources and cloud-native services.
  • Apply Responsible AI practices across all agent development.
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI service components including design, development, testing, and monitoring.
