Job description

The Engineering Program Manager will lead complex, cross-functional programs to advance Apple's Ecodesign compliance strategy. This role is part of the Product Analysis and Compliance Engineering (PACE) team, which bridges various departments to ensure Apple products meet stringent ecodesign and sustainability regulations. The position requires translating emerging regulations into actionable compliance plans and influencing product design decisions. The ideal candidate will thrive at the intersection of sustainable engineering, product design, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial/Systems Engineering, Sustainability Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in product environmental compliance, ecodesign, energy efficiency regulation, or a closely related field within consumer electronics, hardware manufacturing, or a regulated industry.
  • Excellent and rigorous program management skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise with global ecodesign regulations and frameworks including EU ErP, ESPR, EU Batteries Regulation, ENERGY STAR, and emerging repairability/durability scoring frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle principles including energy efficiency, material efficiency, design for disassembly, repairability, and end-of-life considerations as they apply to consumer electronics hardware.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally (estimated 10–20%).

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, cross-functional programs that drive Apple's Ecodesign compliance strategy forward.
  • Translate emerging ecodesign regulations into actionable compliance plans.
  • Orchestrate multi-stakeholder initiatives across Apple's hardware portfolio.
  • Partner with Apple's International Environmental Initiatives, Legal, and Government Affairs teams to shape the regulatory landscape.
  • Influence product design decisions and drive engineering teams toward regulatory readiness.
  • Assess compliance risk alongside legal partners.
  • Help define how the electronics industry approaches circular, resource-efficient product design.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
