Job description

This role is part of a dynamic engineering group at Apple, focusing on the design, simulation, testing, and analysis of wireless power products. Candidates will work on innovative technologies that aim to enhance customer experiences and contribute to groundbreaking Apple products. The position requires a strong background in electromagnetics and finite element analysis, particularly related to magnetic fields. This unique opportunity is ideal for those with a creative attitude who are eager to tackle new challenges in power technology.

Requirements

  • Background in electromagnetics and a sound facility with Maxwell's equations
  • Experience with COMSOL and/or Maxwell FEA simulation tools
  • Familiarity in creating multi-physics models to help predict electrical performance as it relates to wireless charging
  • BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Familiarity with common lab equipment and measurement techniques including network analyzers, LCR meter, power supply/amplifiers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience in creating mathematical, computational, and numerical models for reduced order and more complex thermal analysis
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis of design perturbations
  • Experience with transformer theory and modeling
  • Understanding of physics of magnetic materials
  • Working knowledge in heat transfer
  • M.S. + 10 years experience or Ph.D. (preferred) in material science or power electronics (ECE) program, or related area (e.g. engineering physics)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, simulation, testing, and analysis of current and future wireless power products.
  • Utilize finite element analysis modeling to analyze magnetic fields.
  • Create multi-physics models to predict electrical performance for wireless charging.
  • Engage in the design of inductive power links with mass production intent.
  • Collaborate with team members to address complex engineering challenges.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
