Job description

The Vice President in Global Compliance will support the Compliance Coverage function within the Legal & Compliance division at Morgan Stanley. This role focuses on managing compliance risks across various business lines, particularly in the Research Compliance Coverage area. The position involves advising on U.S. regulations and ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with the Research business unit and coordinate compliance efforts across different regions and business lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, JD preferred but not required
  • 8+ years of compliance or equivalent experience, preferably supporting Research, Investment Banking or Capital Markets businesses
  • Experience interpreting and advising on U.S. Research regulations including SEC, FINRA regulations and CFTC Research Conflicts of Interest Rules
  • A good understanding of the role of investment Research and the inherent conflicts associated with Research
  • A strong understanding of equity and fixed income products
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Team player who works well with others at all levels

Responsibilities

  • Support the Research Compliance Coverage function with a focus on Equity and Fixed Income Research business.
  • Advise the business on U.S. regulations including SEC and FINRA regulations.
  • Communicate with supervisors and analysts to assess risk and remediate issues.
  • Coordinate with Legal and Compliance coverage across business lines and regions.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance with new regulations.
  • Design and deliver training for business unit personnel.
  • Draft and maintain Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Perform monitoring, testing, and surveillance of Research-related regulatory obligations.
  • Assist in regulatory inquiries, internal audits, and other examinations.
  • Develop and coordinate oversight metrics for supervisors.
