Job description

As an EMC Design Engineer at Apple, you will tackle complex electromagnetic compatibility challenges that impact products used globally. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. You will focus on evaluating, designing, and optimizing EMC solutions to ensure the quality and reliability of Apple products. The position emphasizes continuous learning and innovation in problem-solving.

Requirements

  • BSEE or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience and/or advanced education in EMC
  • Prior experience and/or education in EMC, ESD, RF, and signal integrity areas
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Willing and able to support occasional international travel to other Apple sites, vendors, and contract manufacturers
  • MSEE / PhD with a specialization in electromagnetic fields and/or applications
  • Experience with electromagnetic modeling and simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, and ADS
  • Experience in one or more of the following fields: EMC, ESD, RF/Antenna, Signal Integrity and Power Integrity
  • Detailed understanding of design and testing of ITE products for EMC compliance
  • Experience with Matlab and scripting for test automation and data analysis
  • Proficient in schematic and layout review of PCBs for emissions and immunity control
  • Able to perform CAD review of enclosures, connectors, and cables for EMC compliance
  • In-depth knowledge of worldwide EMC regulations, test methods, and standards
  • Experience with EMC lab equipment such as spectrum and vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and transmission line pulsers (TLP)

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, design, and optimize EMC solutions for Apple products.
  • Apply first-principles thinking to uncover innovative solutions to EMC challenges.
  • Collaborate with design teams, test engineers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Conduct design reviews and create comprehensive test plans.
  • Analyze results and provide clear, actionable guidance for peers and leadership.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned to support future designs.
