Job description

The Principal Data Modeler role focuses on developing and maintaining data models that align with business needs and enterprise architecture. The position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure data standards and best practices are applied consistently across projects. The role requires expertise in data modeling tools and technologies, as well as the ability to create advanced data solutions for analytics and reporting. The Principal Data Modeler will also provide guidance to junior team members and advise senior leadership on data infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a closely related field and five years of experience as a Principal Data Modeler.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in a related field and three years of experience as a Principal Data Modeler.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing complex relational databases using data modeling techniques.
  • Experience generating Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) scripts.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases in a financial services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with solution architects, data engineers, and business stakeholders to design scalable data models.
  • Define and lead enterprise-level data strategy and analytics initiatives.
  • Maintain technical requirements in a multi-platform data environment using various modeling strategies.
  • Design data validation procedures and develop ETL processes.
  • Discover and deliver database design solutions for key business partners.
  • Develop and implement advanced data solutions to support analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Perform analysis including research, gap analysis, data mining, and data profiling.
  • Advise senior leadership on data infrastructure and technology solutions.
  • Provide guidance to junior data modelers.
  • Perform independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple initiatives.
