Amazon Web Services is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer to join a team focused on building a large configuration audit platform. The role involves creating AI solutions that automate the lifecycle of resource type onboarding, emphasizing work-life balance and flexibility. The engineer will work on distributed systems and AI-driven automation, contributing to the design and implementation of high-scale services. Mentorship and guidance of junior engineers are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 6+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 6+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
  • Experience building complex software systems delivered to customers
  • 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate high-scale, highly available distributed services that extend AWS Config.
  • Design and build AI agent orchestration systems that automate resource type onboarding at scale.
  • Own solutions across the full lifecycle, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and support.
  • Ensure operational excellence for agentic workflows through monitoring, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers through design reviews and rigorous code reviews.
  • Bring structure to ambiguous problems and manage competing priorities.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
