Job description

The Staff Research Data Scientist for Search Ads GenAI at Google will support the Search Ads and Google Experience organization in developing innovative ad products. This role involves guiding product development and executive decisions using data analysis to measure the impact of changes on users and advertisers. The position requires deep expertise in analytics and collaboration with engineering and product management teams. The goal is to drive long-term value for Google's advertising business through effective data science practices.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases, or statistical analysis, or 6 years of experience with a PhD degree.
  • 10 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases, or statistical analysis, or 8 years of experience with a PhD degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources using relevant tools such as SQL, R, and Python.
  • Format, re-structure, or validate data to ensure quality and readiness for analysis.
  • Partner as a Staff Data Scientist on the Ads Metrics team to explore Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) projects.
  • Evaluate experiments to identify effective strategies for serving embedded ads and understanding users' commercial journeys.
  • Communicate with Ads product, engineering, and executive partners to understand their needs and assist in decision-making.
