The Principal Applied Threat Intelligence Analyst role focuses on authoring high-impact threat intelligence reports and translating complex technical findings into actionable guidance for security teams. The position is part of the Microsoft Security Research team, which aims to defend customers against sophisticated threats. The analyst will collaborate with various teams to deliver intelligence through Microsoft’s platforms and mentor other analysts. This role is critical in shaping the threat landscape narrative and enhancing customer security.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field AND 3+ years experience in relevant fields, OR Master's Degree AND 4+ years experience, OR Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience, OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- 10+ years of experience in cyber threat intelligence, threat hunting, incident response, or a closely related security discipline.
- Demonstrated experience producing finished threat intelligence reporting for technical and/or executive audiences.
- Working experience with Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender XDR or comparable platforms.
- Understanding of adversary tradecraft, the cyber kill chain, and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
Responsibilities
- Author and publish high-impact threat intelligence reports for various audiences.
- Translate complex technical findings into clear guidance for security operations teams.
- Partner with product, research, marketing, and communications teams to deliver intelligence.
- Build and refine pipelines, tooling, and workflows for streaming cyber threat intelligence.
- Represent Microsoft Threat Intelligence in customer briefings and industry conferences.
- Mentor analysts and contribute to team-wide knowledge sharing.
