Job description
The Engineering Manager will lead a team focused on enhancing application security through Microsoft Defender. This role involves bridging the gap between source code and runtime security, ensuring comprehensive protection throughout the software development lifecycle. The manager will collaborate with various Microsoft teams to create reliable systems that address critical security challenges. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape a new category in enterprise security.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 15+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
- Experience designing, delivering, and operating large-scale distributed systems or cloud services in production.
- 4+ years of people management experience, including experience leading multiple teams and managing other managers.
- Proven track record operating always-on, low-latency, high-availability cloud services at global scale.
- Domain background in security such as threat protection, threat intelligence, anti-malware, or detection systems.
- Experience leading AI/ML-driven systems and large-scale data platforms.
- Experience driving large-scale platform modernization and migrations.
- Demonstrated ability to set technical strategy and influence senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead the engineering team responsible for designing, delivering, and operating how Microsoft Defender protects the software development lifecycle.
- Drive end-to-end protection across the lifecycle, from the first line of code through build, deployment, runtime, detection, response, and remediation.
- Partner across Microsoft Defender, GitHub, Azure, Windows, Microsoft AI, and M365 to translate a major industry shift into real systems customers can trust.
- Help create and shape a new category within one of the most important platforms in enterprise security.
