Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of AI-powered engineering platforms within the Infrastructure, Planning and Process (IPP) Team. This role focuses on defining and building intelligent systems that enhance developer productivity and automate workflows, ultimately improving software delivery across the organization. The position requires a blend of technical vision, architecture, and execution skills to drive innovation in AI-assisted software development processes. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering leaders and teams to deliver impactful solutions.

Requirements

  • PhD or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience in large-scale platforms, distributed systems, AI systems, or developer infrastructure.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with LLM applications, agentic workflows, and AI system safety.
  • Strong coding ability in Python and at least one major production language such as C++, Go, or Rust.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical vision, architecture, and execution for AI-native developer tooling and workflow automation platforms.
  • Invent and develop production-grade autonomous AI systems that can reason over engineering workflows.
  • Drive the evolution of AI-assisted processes in software development.
  • Define platform-level standards for reliability, evaluation, observability, safety, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Influence technical direction across multiple teams by setting architecture patterns and mentoring senior engineers.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
