Job description

The Security Engineer – AI & Software Security role at Blackstone focuses on securing AI systems and platforms across the firm. The position is part of the Security Engineering Team, which is responsible for enabling secure software delivery while maintaining development velocity. This highly cross-functional role involves collaborating with engineering, data science, and product teams to embed security into the AI software development lifecycle. The engineer will also contribute to evolving Blackstone's approach to application, cloud, and AI security.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering or security engineering with proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
  • Experience performing security reviews, code reviews, and design assessments for complex software systems.
  • Experience designing and building resilient systems that reduce operational and security risk.
  • Experience managing day-to-day security engineering execution, including handling requests and remediation guidance.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in securing AI/ML platforms or applications.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a security engineering partner for AI-enabled applications and machine learning platforms.
  • Perform architecture and design reviews for AI systems, including model pipelines and data flows.
  • Conduct secure code reviews for software that integrates AI capabilities, focusing on identifying security flaws.
  • Lead penetration testing and adversarial testing activities for AI-enabled applications and APIs.
  • Develop and maintain threat models for AI systems addressing risks such as data poisoning and model theft.
  • Partner with engineering and data science teams to embed secure-by-design principles into AI development workflows.
  • Help define and standardize security controls and reference architectures for applied AI use cases.
  • Work with platform and cloud teams to ensure secure deployment of AI workloads.
  • Translate complex AI security risks into clear guidance for stakeholders.
  • Contribute to security risk reduction initiatives by identifying systemic AI security issues.
  • Assist with security incident response related to AI-enabled systems.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers to grow security engineering capabilities.
