Job description

The Senior Java Developer, Vice President role at Citi involves leading the development and enhancement of strategic systems within the Cross Asset Margin technology team. This position focuses on managing a team to drive engineering activities related to application systems analysis, design, and programming. The role requires expertise in Java and related technologies to ensure adherence to architectural standards while optimizing margin requirements for clients. The developer will also collaborate with various stakeholders to support risk management and trading operations.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in an Apps Development role with hands-on coding.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in designing complex and distributed systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Java, Spring, Kafka, and Distributed Cache/Systems.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases like Oracle.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and API-first design thinking.
  • Experience building applications on cloud platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Proven implementation of design patterns and enterprise-level architecture.
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipeline.
  • Experience with GenAI Developer productivity tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • UI tech stack knowledge is an advantage.
  • Understanding of Risks (Greeks) and risk calculation models like VaR/SIMM is preferred.

  • Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow to develop coding, testing, debugging, and implementation standards.
  • Guide the team to establish design standards and improve development workflow efficiency.
  • Take ownership of smooth production release planning and execution.
  • Oversee software quality and system modifications.
  • Serve as an advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
  • Analyze existing operations to identify risks and redundancies.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop solutions.
  • Liaise with team members and management to ensure projects meet development and governance standards.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Resolve high-impact problems through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes and industry standards.
  • Assess risk when making business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
