Job description
The Facilities Mechanical and Controls Engineer at Intel in Santa Clara, California, will act as the Technical Subject Matter Expert for mechanical, HVAC, and control systems within critical environments. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of these systems while mentoring other engineers and managing vendor relationships. The engineer will leverage their extensive experience to oversee system operations and maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership to drive improvements in facility operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of field experience with mechanical systems such as HVAC, fans, boilers, chillers, pumps, piping, valves, etc.
- 3+ years of experience supporting data centers and/or advanced laboratories is preferred.
- Prior experience transitioning from hands-on roles to system ownership and oversight of vendor-driven maintenance and operations is preferred.
- Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve immediate and systemic issues with technical equipment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and maintenance of mechanical and HVAC systems critical to supporting data centers and labs.
- Support daily efforts to achieve safety, reliability, and environmental compliance objectives for all facilities' mechanical systems.
- Design and analyze mechanical systems and equipment, troubleshoot systemic issues, and provide solutions to resolve complex problems.
- Develop engineering scopes of work for mechanical projects and conduct feasibility studies.
- Oversee industrial instrumentation and automation systems for maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis to address equipment issues and manage long-term improvement initiatives.
- Act as a partner to business units, providing engineering solutions for equipment and systems.
- Develop and execute a systems roadmap and asset replacement strategy for facility expansions and renovations.
- Guide and mentor other engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration.
