Job description
The Video Engineering group at Apple is seeking a Software Engineer focused on data application development, data pipeline engineering, and database systems. This hands-on role involves working at the intersection of software, data, and machine learning, directly impacting the quality of next-generation Apple products. The team collaborates with Algorithm, Quality Assurance, and User Studies teams to drive innovation in video engineering. Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience
- 2+ years of experience in Python
- 2+ years of experience designing and developing data pipelines or data applications
- 1+ years of experience with a major cloud platform such as AWS
- Strong proficiency with Git, REST APIs, SQL, and NoSQL databases
- Experience with data modeling, schema design, and database performance optimization
- Familiarity with software design patterns and system design principles
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and engineering best practices
- Experience with distributed data processing frameworks like Spark or Airflow
- Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL/ELT patterns, and large-scale analytics workflows
- Experience designing end-to-end systems with a focus on performance, cost, and maintainability
- Strong curiosity and drive to explore new technologies, including AI/LLM tools
- Experience building internal tooling or lightweight web interfaces
- Good verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
